Leader. Speaker. Advocate.

We have codified the separation of mind and body through policy. I work to change that.

Fighting the Fragmentation of Health

Mental health is foundational to our overall health. This principle, which has guided my life’s work for years, has been proven true again and again. Sadly, we have never fully embraced this notion in the United States and have often minimized it to our detriment. In practice, in policy, and everywhere in between, we have learned and perpetuated a fragmented view of health and health care – one where mental health and well-being is treated not only as separate, but unequal.

I want to change that.

I've been an advocate for mental health awareness and education, and a champion of more robust and equitable health policy as an academic, clinician, and executive. I have had a lot of allies along the way – and together, we have gotten meaningful work done. Now, we must continue fighting the fragmentation of health one policy at a time.
